Using this site

CouchMachine is a free information site about running official SteamOS on a living room PC. You may read, link to and share its pages. Copying the content in bulk or republishing it as your own is not allowed. We may change or remove content at any time.

Information, not advice

The builds, recommendations and guides on this site are put together with care, but they are general information and can contain errors or become outdated. Check specifications with the seller before you order. To the extent permitted by law, CouchMachine accepts no liability for any damage or loss arising from the use of this information, from a purchase made through a link on this site, or from an installation or repair you carry out yourself.

Resolution targets, scores and price indications

The resolution targets used on this site (1080p, 1440p and 4K), the scores for performance, affordability and upgradeability, and the price indications are indications only, not specifications or guarantees. Every game runs differently: one game is better optimized than another, and actual frame rates also depend on the settings, the display, driver versions, upscaling techniques such as FSR and future updates. A build or system listed under 4K will not run every game at 4K, and nothing on this site is promised to reach a particular frame rate or price. Check independent benchmarks for the games you care about before you buy.

Compatibility

Every build is composed as a set that fits together. Products change over time: revisions, regional variants and discontinued models happen. Always compare the product on the shop page with the part listed here.

Prices and the "Check lowest price" buttons

Prices on this site are rough indications only, and the "Check lowest price" buttons take you to a retailer or price comparison site. We do not set, control or verify the prices, stock levels, delivery times or product descriptions you find there, and we cannot guarantee that the offer shown is the lowest available anywhere. The price and the product details on the retailer page at the moment of purchase are the ones that count. Always check them before you order.

Installing and repairing

Installing SteamOS erases the target drive. Opening hardware can affect your warranty. You do both at your own risk.

Affiliate links

Some links on this site may be affiliate links. If you buy something through one of them we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. A possible commission never decides what gets recommended.

External links

We are not responsible for the content, availability or policies of the shops and other sites we link to. Your purchase is an agreement between you and that shop.
